Hello. I have read about Bisq mobile notifications, but this involves going via either Apple or Google. Is it possible instead simply to get desktop notifications, for example when it comes to new offers?

No, it’s not possible, you have to manually check the offerbook.

Why is that, out of curiosity? If it’s technically possible to get alerts on your phone should it not be possible - indeed easier - to get alerts on your desktop?

You’re right, I guess it’s assumed that if you’re using the desktop, you could as well check the offer book.

Bisq 2 has notifications for new offers.

I guess it is possible, because while there is no “desktop notifications” system, you can use bisq daemon + API interface to build your own notification system

</div>

It would be handy, as good offers can come and go quite quickly. If you’re working on something else you don’t want to be checking the offer book every five minutes.

absolutely, in that case leveraging the API for the whole process is best, since then you don’t need to “see notification” \> “close daemon” \> “start gui” \> “take offer” but rather skip the two middle steps altogether

The daemon approach could work, but that’s pretty technical for what should be a simple feature. Easier to just wait for Bisq 2.

I expect you could feed bisq api reference to an ai and it will build (after some headaches) a notification applet in python for you
