# Does the data directory really have to be backed up?

Does the data directory really have to be backed up? Is backing up accounts and saving wallet passphrase and seed not enough?

Trade data isn’t stored in the wallet, so you need the whole directory if you have any open trades.  
If you don’t, seed and date for the wallet should be enough, as I understand.

Yes backup is the most important. Seed words will not help you to recover from an open trade because the keys and other important data are only in the app data directory.
