# Installing on Debian/Ubuntu

I’m trying to install the Debian package for Bisq and the Software installer just hangs when trying to install it

that you are using “software installer” is a giveaway you are probably not following the expected procedure.  
Download the deb file from [Bisq Downloads ‹ Bisq - A decentralized bitcoin exchange network](https://bisq.network/downloads) and then from the commandline in the folder where the deb is located, to `sudo apt install ./Bisq...deb`
