# Requesting a different payment method

Is there a way to request a seller to change to another payment type, like from Cash-by-mail to US-Monet-order? Is this even possible? - thanks

that is absolutely possible, just as it’s possible this will land your trade in dispute and have you pay a penalty, as the rules state that the payment method associated with the open trade must be respected.  
Other than this, traders can still coordinate to use a different method, but then any possible mediation that is opened could go wrong, as the dispute process is based on the fact that the agreed upon payment terms are respected.

I read about what you are referring to after posting my question. I was hoping that there was some kind of function that would allow this switching, since the transaction is still made within Bisq, but only using a different payment rout. - Thanks

For more flexibility on trade terms use Bisq Easy on Bisq 2, as there is no security deposit and trade details are not set in stone when taking an offer, it’s easier to coordinate something different between peers. But it’s also more risky, thus trading volumes are lower.
