Hi all,
I installed my desktop Bisq app on a computer with several users running on Windows 10. Because an issue with my hard drive, I cannot access the user Bisq was installed on. I can still see the executable file from the other users, though. However, I cannot open the app even though I provided full permission on the folder Bis is installed on as well as administrator permission to all other users. But to no avail. I can’t open it yet.
Could someone please tell me how can I open it from another user?
Thank you in advance.
Do you have any trades in progress? If not the easiest thing to do would be to install Bisq again on the user you want to access it from and then restore Bisq from your seed (you only really need to do this if you have a bitcoin or BSQ balance you want to access).
No, no trade in progress. This is what I wanted to avoid because now I will have duplicated my Bisq account info. Additionally, I will need at least 24 hours to fully sync the new one.
Isn’t there any other less painful solution?
Well, I restored the account via seed normally but none of my funds and history was restored! Not even my password. I made the huge mistake of not having a backup file of the previous account. Can you please tell me how can I find the paths to the info of my funds and histpry? I can still see the folders of the old user search in between their files.
Restoring from the seed phrase should give you access to all your bitcoin and BSQ balances.
The payment accounts, trade history and application password are not able to be restored from your seed.
If you need to access the directory files from your user accounts on windows 10 that might be better achieved by looking into how to do this on a windows forum. I assume you should be able to do this as long as the hard drive is not encrypted (or is it is your know the password).
Once you have access to the data directory you will be able to restore it be copying the files found in C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Bisq and pasting them over a fresh installation of Bisq on a new user.

Ok. I will try that. Thank you very much.
