Lost Fiat Payment Accounts & Reputation after DB reset + upgrade – Need help restoring

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for help recovering my Fiat Payment Accounts and account reputation after resolving a long-standing sync issue.

I was experiencing the known problem where Bisq was stuck syncing around 95–96% SPV on startup. After trying multiple fixes, I followed guidance to delete the db folder to force a rebuild. However, this alone did not fix the issue.

The sync only completed successfully after I upgraded to the latest Bisq version (v1.9.22). Bisq now opens and runs normally.

Unfortunately, after this process:

  • All my Fiat Payment Accounts disappeared

  • My account reputation / age witness appears lost

  • My wallet balance is intact, but my trading identity is gone

Later, I discovered that the deleted db folder was still in my Trash, so I recovered it and moved it to my Desktop. I also still have a Bisq_BACKUP folder from before the reset.

Questions:

  1. Can my Fiat Payment Accounts and account reputation be restored from the recovered db folder or Bisq_BACKUP?

  2. Which exact folder/file should I select when trying to import my old Fiat Payment Account

  3. Is there a safe way to restore my old account data without corrupting the current synced database?

  4. If full restoration is not possible, can my account age witness / reputation be recovered separately?

Environment:

  • Bisq version: v1.9.22

  • OS: Linux

  • Original issue: SPV sync stuck at ~95–96%

  • Sync completed only after upgrading

  • Wallet funds unaffected

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I’m mainly trying to restore my payment accounts and preserve my reputation history if possible.

Thank you :folded_hands:

which “guidance” did you follow about deleting the db folder? the solution to this issue has always been to update to 1.9.22

Now, if you have a backup of the folder, and if the folder in trash is whole, you can just restore it as it is rather than placing it on the desktop, but if it’s on the desktop now, you can copy it to the correct data directory location (which will have been filled with new files by now, but you can rename that before copying old files over).

Correct location is Data directory - Bisq Wiki

Hi suddenwhipvapor,

Just wanted to say a big thank you again :folded_hands:

My issue is now fully resolved and everything is working normally. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me — both this time and previously when you helped fix my earlier sync problem. Your guidance made a huge difference.

Thanks again :+1:
