I wanted to see if this tablet with “only” 4GB RAM can run bisq-1. So I did a comparison and I realized: bisq-1 is a terrible experience while bisq-2 is running smooth and fast.

Comparison with Windows 11
Comparison with Ubuntu Linux

Thank you for the interesting stats!
I would say thought that this is the classic comparison between apples and oranges
Yes, Bisq1 is slower and heavier, and yes, the codebase is the result of many years of development and reworks and patches and additions, and all of this will be redone from scratch when musig is released on Bisq2, still Bisq1 also carries the huge load of its features, it’s got a builtin btc wallet (a java one on top of that, they don’t make them anymore!), the DAO, the blockchain sync, a more robust p2p network, while Bisq2 right now only has the Bisq Easy protocol, which is a p2p chat with a trade flow built on top, still a jewel of software since there are no other fully p2p and opensource chat platforms around (maybe darkirc?), but it is inherently much simpler than Bisq1, conceptually.
It would be like saying an old battle tested Suzuki 4x4 is so much bigger heaver and stinkier than your electric minicar from last year.

Yes,
don’t worry I made this apple/oranges comparison for fun. Results are as I expected. But I even have a slow experience with bisq-1 with 32 GB of RAM and Debian. It mostly needs 1-2-3 seconds to switch to a different page.
true, that’s been my experience since forever, by now my brain has gotten used to it to the point where if it was suddenly fast I’d get worried as something would be definitely off
