I’m trying to buy XMR and the deposit transaction was taking forever to confirm (a couple hours already) so I decided to look it up on the block explorer. Both the explorer on my local node and blockstream explorer say this transaction does not exist. what is going on?
Hey, the mempool is extremely busy at this time and fees are high.
Although it not showing up is still odd, it should get picked up by the mempool.

Ok, it was broadcast, but it was not showing in the mempool for some reason, it just got 2 confirmations and so all is well

It’s likely that the mempool was full and couldn’t accept new transactions.
