Trade period is over. Should I open a dispute immediately?

This is my first post and first time using bitsquare. I completed a transaction and sent the payment (using ClearXchange) a few days ago, but the seller still has not confirmed.

I had emailed him to ask if he was going to confirm a few days ago, and at the time he said the payment was pending and he would confirm once it has cleared. The time period has since ended.

I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he either forgot about it or hasn’t gotten around to confirming yet, but should I open a dispute immediately or should I wait? Can he confirm in the middle of the dispute process?

Thanks

You can wait if you want, but there is no harm in opening dispute immediately. Seller should have enough time, no need to prolong it. He can confirm in the middle of dispute and you could choose not to take the security deposit if he sends BTC, I don’t see why this wouldn’t be possible.

Thanks @alexej996. In the meantime, the transaction was confirmed, but good to know for the future.
