⚠️ Warning: User @Quin1 is running a scam — do NOT follow their "DApps" links

I want to warn the community about a scam I encountered after posting a legitimate support question here on the forum.

What happened:

I posted a question about the macOS Gatekeeper error (“Bisq.app ist beschädigt und kann nicht geöffnet werden”) on Bisq 1.9.22 / macOS Tahoe 26.2. Shortly after, user @Quin1 replied to my thread. Their response started out looking helpful — they correctly identified the Gatekeeper issue — but then directed me to an external “official support live chat” website, referencing a fake ticket ID (BSQ#9210) and a link labeled “BISQ Network DApps Support Ticket Requests”.

Here is @Quin1’s reply — notice how it starts helpful but then redirects to an external site:

The scam website URL is: gitconnect-online.web.app (do NOT visit this site or connect any wallet).

On that website, a fake support agent called “Genesis” tried to pressure me into “connecting to DApps for security purposes.” When I declined, they insisted that I “will have to connect to the DApps” to be able to trade. This is a classic wallet-draining scam.

Red flags to watch for:

  • Being redirected away from the Bisq forum to an external “live chat” website (in this case gitconnect-online.web.app)

  • Any mention of needing to “connect to DApps” for security or trading purposes

  • Fake ticket IDs meant to make the interaction look official (e.g. “BSQ#9210”)

  • Pressure to act quickly or connect your wallet

Remember: Bisq is a desktop application. It runs locally on your machine. There is no “DApps connection” required, and Bisq support will never ask you to connect your wallet to an external website.

As you can see from the screenshots above, this is a coordinated scam. Stay safe out there.

For anyone else with the same macOS Gatekeeper problem — the actual fix is documented in the official Bisq wiki: :backhand_index_pointing_right: https://bisq.wiki/Downloading_and_installing#OS-specific_install_notes
