What is the bisq “Referral ID” field in the General preferences?

I never noticed it before, might be something from a new version.

I just found that it was added with this proposal.
Still not sure what it is exactly, but as you can read it has something to do with helping out to optionally identify API users or something.

The referral ID was introduced to have the possibility to assign a referral ID to a trade in the future. Having this possibility it would help us to evaluate the volume generated by other projects using the Bisq protocol e.g. the Bisq API. It is still in discussion in the proposal how it should be used exactly.
